Are you transporting less than 500 kg of dangerous goods? The Transport of Dangerous Goods Regulations (TDGR) require training for all people even if they transport less than 500 kg of dangerous goods. Knowing the appropriate TDG requirements will avoid penalties!   It is based on our 8 steps to compliance and built around the use of our compliance tools.  Learn all the requirements in order to transport dangerous goods safely.

WARNING
This training is not valid for the transport of flammable gas cylinders over 46L, toxic gases, radioactive, organic peroxides, infectious substances or explosives.

Once purchased, the client has six (6) months to use the selected courses.  A training certificate will be issued after completion.

Course content

This module will explain the various responsibilites and requirements outlined in the TDGR, as well as expose the candidate to the legal and training aspects.

After this module, the participant will be able to recognize the various classes of dangerous goods as well as the symbols, dangers associated with each one of these classes and divisions as well as the complete shipping descriptions.

After successful completion of this module, the participant will be able to inspect various packages of dangerous goods in order to ensure they meet all hazard communication requirements.

In this module the participant will learn the various transport procedures including, stowage, spill report requirements, provincial rules as well as creating a shipping document meeting the requirements of the 500 kg exemption.

About the author

Bernard Parker is a regulatory specialist with over 25 years of experience in hazmat handling and shipping.    His expertise includes Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG, IATA/ICAO, IMDG, 49CFR), Dangerous Products Regulations (WHMIS), Hazmat storage and fire prevention.  He is an experienced and certified trainer in several different fields and a voting member of Transport Canada’s TDGR training committee.  He is currently a training manager at the Dangerous Goods Training Center, an organization specializing in hazardous materials training.  Courses are available in English and in French.
